Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has reported on conflict zones over the last more than 45 years. Her focus is on human suffering and disasters. Curry has covered the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, born November 19th 1956 (Agana) is an American journalist who worked as anchor of a newscast on TV. Curry was well-known for her work in reporting about natural disasters as well as war broken nations. Curry's Japanese-American mother and U.S. Navy-sailor dad both played a prominent role in Curry's life. Her father was with her mother in Japan while he was stationed there following World War II. The family was frequently on the move because of the military duties of her father. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978 with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism in the University of Oregon. In her youth she was exposed diverse cultures. The couple moved to various locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland is where she finished high school. In the role of an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon, she started her career in broadcasting. She became the first woman news reporter at the station, when she was 22. In Portland in Oregon, she was appointed anchor as well as a reporter for KGW the NBC affiliate. Four years later she moved back to Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. It was during her time with the channel for a period of 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
